Nonavalent human papillomavirus vaccination as a treatment for warts in an immunosuppressed adult

چکیده
HPV: Human papillomavirus INTRODUCTION Common cutaneous warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) strains 1, 2, and 4, can be challenging to treat. Immunosuppressed patients are especially vulnerable to this infection, and the warts may cause physical and psychologic distress. There are currently 3 commercially available vaccines in the United States that target HPV strains commonly associated with the development of anogenital warts, cervical dysplasia, and cervical, vulvar, vaginal, and anal cancers. We report a case of an immunosuppressed adult with eruptive cutaneous warts who responded well to treatment with the nonavalent HPV vaccine (targeted against HPV 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58).

Resolution of Novel Human Papillomavirus–induced Warts after HPV Vaccination
Human papillomavirus (HPV) XS2 was isolated from warts on an immunosuppressed patient. After HPV vaccination, the warts resolved. HPVXS2 was also found in warts and normal skin of HIV-positive patients and rarely in HIV-negative controls. Further studies should elucidate the mechanisms that lead to wart clearance.
متن کاملThe immunology of animal papillomaviruses.
Papillomaviruses are species- and tissue-specific double-stranded DNA viruses. These viruses cause epithelial tumours in many animals, including man. Typically, the benign warts undergo spontaneous, immune-mediated regression, most likely effected by T-cells (especially CD4, but also CD8 subsets), whereas humoral immunity can prevent new infections. Some papillomavirus infections fail to regres...
متن کاملNational- and state-level impact and cost-effectiveness of nonavalent HPV vaccination in the United States.
Every year in the United States more than 12,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, a disease principally caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Bivalent and quadrivalent HPV vaccines protect against 66% of HPV-associated cervical cancers, and a new nonavalent vaccine protects against an additional 15% of cervical cancers. However, vaccination policy varies across states, and migration be...
متن کاملOptimized Transferosomal Bovine Lactoferrin (BLF) a Promising Novel Non-Invasive Topical Treatment for Genital Warts Caused by Human Papiluma Virus (HPV)
Human papillomavirus (HPV) cause common warts, laryngeal papilloma and genital condylomata and might lead to development of cervical cancer. Lactoferrin (LF) is a member of the transferrin family, which has antiviral activity against HPV-16. LF is an important player in the defense against pathogenic microorganisms and has also been shown to have activity against several viruses including herpe...
متن کاملEfficiency of Photodynamic Therapy in the Treatment of Diffuse Facial Viral Warts in an Immunosuppressed Patient: Towards a Gold Standard?
A 64-year-old man with a pulmonary transplant developed diffuse verrucae vulgares of the neck. After the failure of multiple cryotherapy treatments, 3 sessions of photodynamic therapy resulted in rapid therapeutic clinical success. This moderately painful and well-tolerated treatment is reproducible and can be very useful in treating papillomavirus infections in the immunosuppressed patient.
